Campers to chose a splash day to end the summer
Thrive’s T9 Summer Camp, held at the Giving Hope Community Center in the Ninth Ward, hosted 125 kids with 17 youth counselors. Thrive’s program is designed to grow the campers into mentors and eventually into leaders who give back to our community. Many of our camp counselors attended summer camp as younger kids.
T9 Summer Camp is an effort from our entire community to engage our children in programming that educates them, affirms them, and mentors them into self-confidence, leadership, and service.
Morning meeting was a special time each day, where campers sang “I’m the World’s Greatest” and listened to stories read by special guests and volunteers. The kids participated in weekly field trips, including; NASA’s Infinity Science Center, Audubon Zoo, and roller skating on Airline Hwy. They visited the pool weekly and were taught life skills like sewing.
The campers ended the summer with new friendships, new mentors, new life skills, new experiences, and many life-long memories.
